Auditions generally take place during a private appointment. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we, unfortunately, cannot meet with you in person for a live audition. However, we are providing you with two options to audition for Calos.

Recorded Audition: Interested musicians are asked to prepare and record your performance of the audition music which can be found under the tabs to the left on this webpage. You can upload your performance mp3 file and provide us with a shareable link (onedrive, googledrive, etc….). Send the link to info@calosmusic.ca. The submission deadline is September 9, 2020. If you need help doing this, please contact Grant Etchegary @getchegary@gmail.com.

Zoom Audition: Interested musicians are asked to contact the Calos Office to arrange an audition time. You will need access to a computer to facilitate the Zoom audition. We will scheduling auditions for September 10 and 11, 2020.

For younger intermediate musicians, we have two ensembles. The String Orchestra comprises young violin, viola, and cello players. The Concert Orchestra consists of the string orchestra musicians with the addition of wind and percussion instrumentalists. The Concert Orchestra is similar in instrumentation as the Calos Senior Orchestra and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. Both orchestras are the feeder ensembles for the CALOS Senior Orchestra and are open to elementary and junior high students. This orchestra provides intermediate musicians with an introduction to ensemble playing. The ensembles are under the direction of  Grace Dunsmore and Dominic Greene.
