We are looking forward to hearing from all young musicians interested in playing with the Calos Youth Orchestras. We are providing you with two options for being interviewed for the orchestra.

Recorded Interviews: If you are from out of the province or country and moving to the St. John’s area for the 2024-2025 academic year, would we love to listen to you play. Interested musicians are asked to prepare and record their performance of the audition music which can be found under the tabs to the left on this webpage. You can upload your performance mp3 file and provide us with a shareable link (OneDrive, google drive, etc….). You can also upload your video to YouTube and send us the link.

Live Interviews: If you live in the St. John’s area, contact the artistic director at getchegary@gmail.com for instructions

Here are some guidelines that you can use to help you prepare for your audition.

1) New musicians must complete the interview request form.  We will be in contact with you shortly afterward.
2) New musicians should access the interview material that can be found under the tabs to the left on this webpage. Download and print the information PDF for your instrument. If you have problems, please contact getchegary@gmail.com
3) Prepare for the interview. If you are taking private lessons, consult with your teacher for help in preparing. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Grant Etchegary at getchegary@gmail.com. We are here to help you.
4) The whole audition process will take no longer than fifteen minutes for the live interview option. During this time you will have the opportunity to perform for and speak with the artistic team of the Calos Youth Orchestras. The panel is extremely friendly and the audition experience is very casual. Though it is easy to say, there is really no reason to be nervous.

More information regarding the interview process and orchestral excerpts can be found here.
